It took 7 hours and 14 minutes...but I did it. My knee started hurting around mile 13 and only got worse until I had to pretty much speed walk the rest. BUT I did it! I finished. 26.2 miles. I hurt today. Standing, sitting, laying down, walking, it all pretty much hurts.

I'm on the far left...coming in by myself in the black pants and purple jersey with white hat.

Physical therapy wasn't really much of an exercise session. The therapist did electric shocks and ice to my knee and said rest until the marathon. I leave in the morning for San Diego. The pasta dinner with TNT is tomorrow night. THen Sunday morning is the marathon.

I am really excited and nervous about this weekend. We are having a pasta dinner tomorrow and then the night before the race with TNT. That should be fun. I start physical therapy for my knee tomorrow at the specialists request. So hopefully they don't work me too hard since I am trying to rest my knees this week so they will be ready for the weekend.

So I did 3 hours /12 miles on the eliptical on Sunday. My MRI came back clear. So just Bursitis. I can't get into physical thearapy until Wed. That's only 1 session before the marathon. ARGH!

So I have not been able to train as hard since my knees (espcially my right one) have been giving me trouble. I went to the doctor, specialist and then today had an MRI. I should hear back from the specialist tomorrow about the MRI. Hopefully nothing is wrong except for "Bursitis" which he promises I can run with. I am so proud of accomplishing so much already, but I really want to finish the marathon (which is just over 2 weeks away) and still be able to walk. That's the goal. Finish it and still be walking. :) I have to hit the eliptical again for a while instead of running.

I ran/walked 16 miles today. I chose a rather tough couple of trails through Griffith Park that were really steep. My knee didn't quit on me until mile 15.5 and a walked in the last half mile. I feel really good about my run though. 1. I did it alone and kept going. 2. It was a really difficult route. 3. My body didn't rebel against me until almost twice the distance as before. I think it's getting stronger.

I did 15 miles on the eliptical today in just under 3 hours. It was much faster than usual. I watched 1 and a half movies on TBS while at our little gym. I got a running log this week. I logged 35 miles on the eliptical for the week total. My knees are a little sore right now, but nothing compared to when I started. I think the eliptical is really helping to build the strength I need to run long distances. I hope to get back out with the group soon for our trainings Sunday mornings. On a completely off topic note, I am excited to be on Ghost Whisperer this Friday.

I did 10 miles on the eliptical machine today since I missed my long run this week.

THANK YOU to everyone that helped make the fundraiser show great! We had fun and raised money for the Society. The party at the Edison on Wednesday went well too. It was fun. It really warms my heart to see my friends attending the events to show support. So again I say thank you to the cast, crew and audience of our So Funny It Squirts show tonight.

Today our team ran 13 miles...I however ran 3..my knee hurt, so I walked 5 and then got sent in by the assitant coach to lay off my knee so I can run without pain. I am gonna be hitting the eliptical this week instead of running. Hopefully soon I'll be back in full swing.

I did 12 miles today!!! I am sooo excited and sore. My knees and feet are killing me, but I have a huge smile on my face and ice on my knees. Oh yes, my birthday is tomorrow.
March 23rd, 2008
I ran 8 miles this morning. I ran 5 minutes/walked 1 for the entire 8 miles. My knee didn't hurt as bad as last week, but it's still annoying. I am icing it now as I type this.

Happy St. Patty's Day! I am not as nimble as a leprechaun, but at least I am walking today with less pain than yesterday. I hope to be on the eliptical tomorrow.

Today was a hard day for me. We were running 10 miles. I was doing great, having fun, talking to my teammates...but then about mile 6 my right knee started to hurt. I slowed down and caught up to my group at the water stop. I re-joined them, but about a half mile later my knee started hurting again only worse. I walked until one of the team captains told me to go in at the 8 mile mark, so I wouldn't hurt myself. Coach Chris says he thinks it's runner's knee & iliotibial band syndrome. It's common in runners. So I need to take it easy this week and do the eliptical more than running and I should be fine for Sunday's long run. A very exciting thing at training today...a bunch of us, including me, joined the bone marrow donor registration.

Today was our recommitment party for TNT, which means I officially turned in all of my paperwork and signed a contract that I will reach my fundraising minimum. I also did 4 miles on the eliptical before I went to the party. (Someone was on the treadmill.)
March 9, 2008
I ran 8 miles with the TNT group this morning. It was a beautiful run along the beach.
March 8, 2008
So my legs felt better on Tuesday. I did the eliptical machine for 30 minutes a few days this week. Then today I ran to the post office and back again (4 miles total). I'm really excited about my fundraiser. I've been going to businesses all week getting donations for the event. There are so many wonderfully generous people out there. If you are reading this, you are probably one of them.

I am pretty much over the flu except a bit of crazy coughing and stuffy nose, so I went to practice. We ran 7 miles in the Santa Monica Mountians today. I walked a majority of it and somehow still managed to hurt my good knee on the way down. I'm sure I'll be fine in a day or two. Last night I went to my first fundraiser for TNT. Allegra, my mentor, set up an iron-on station for the LA Marathon TNT participants pasta dinner. They could bring their jerseys and shirts to us and we'd iron on their names or their honored teammates names, etc. Then after practice today I was super excited to go downtown and watch the end of the LA Marathon today. I've never been to a marathon. It's soo cool watching everyone cheering on the runners. I watched a mother help her daughter cross the finish line when she injured her leg. I watched two runners help another after he fell just after mile 26. It was all very touching and exciting. It makes me want to go run just thinking about it.
Feb. 25, 2008
So I have been sick with the flu since Thursday evening. I haven't really done much of anything besides eat soup, sleep and lay on the couch for the past few days. I was really bummed that I couldn't make our 3rd training session. I hope to be up and running again in the next day or two.
Feb. 17, 2008
Today was my 2nd TNT group training session. I was placed in my running group with others that run around the same speed. We ran 4 miles today. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, but I was quite sweaty by the end. Our TNT bunch also meets every Wed. to work out at the gym, but I have rehearsals for my improv show. I will be doing my gym workouts alone at Bally's every week. It's important to cross train.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Feb. 10, 2008
Today was our first official Team in Training training day. We met in Santa Monica at 8am...I think there were 144 participants...then we went over a few things, such as stretching, then down to the beach for a timed 3 mile run. I finished in 36 minutes. Not bad for my first time off of a treadmill. I had to run & walk and I used my inhaler about a half mile into it, but I had fun! It's a great group of people always cheering eachother on.

I bought my first pair of good running shoes today. I didn't realize that there are different types of running shoes and you should choose one depending on how you run. I also ran over a mile today without stopping or walking. :) A small victory. I have also decided to make short term personal goals, the first is raising $500 by Valentine's Day. So thank you again to everyone that is helping me reach my goals.

So even though we haven't officially started training, I have been hitting the treadmill for the past 2 weeks. I am really excited to start training with the group. So far on my own I have run 1/2 mile without walking, but have run/walked 5 miles on the treadmill in one workout. I am building up strength in my lungs. My legs are doing fine...it's breathing that is tough. I have my inhaler on hand at all workouts. Several of my friends have told me that this may be too difficult a challenge, but I believe you can do anything when you put your mind to it. It will just be even more exciting to finish after overcoming these difficulties.
